This is a really nice pen... I have two: one aluminum and one titanium. The titanium number isn't significantly better than the aluminum, except that it's like, whoa! TITANIUM! Both pens are very robust...it would take a LOT of pounding to seriously damage the pen body, or to break the clip or other parts.

What I particularly like about the pen is that it's a true one-hander...you don't have to fiddle with a removable separate cap like so many tactical pens. If you need a pen to actually write with regularly, this one is quite handy and easy to use...and if you're writing a traffic ticket, or bylaw ticket or some other form of paperwork in the presence of a possible threat, it is practically perfect. The bolt-action mechanism is a little clumsy, but with a few minutes practice it's quite manageable.

I have downgraded the pen by a star however...the problem is the pen refills. Both pens I received had bad refills...they'd write for a little while and then skit and stop entirely...old and dried up is my guess. The Lamy M22 refills aren't commonly available...they have to be ordered from one or another online source. The Lamy USA site didn't have the refills I wanted [Fine point, black] so I ordered some from BRITAIN [!] via Ebay for about $4.50 each [!]. Actually that's not bad...the Canadian source I found [http://www.lsfgroup.ca] has them for $7.50!!! Shop around on line, they can be found for less. Because of this, you might want to limit your use of the pen to those times when you need a tactical pen in your hand or pocket, and do the extensive writing with a less costly backup pen.
