CIVIVI Sokoke Front Flipper Folding Knife, 14C28N Steel, G10, C22007-1
[CIVC22007-1]
$117.99CDN $93.99CDN
The Sokoke has Ray Laconico’s signature all over it. Open it an put up against some of his other designs such as the CJRB EKKO, the Gemini, the Yorkie, the Vanguard, or the WE Esprit and you will recognize the style - the pattern or formula, if you will. They are good designs and good knifes, but perhaps a little repetitive. This midsized EDC has good action, good fit and finish, 14C28N steel, is a good mid grade steel, and the flat grind is very sharp. It has a few nice design features like nested liners, and the textured G-10 scales are very lovely. It is a good knife and other than it being a bit cookie cutterish, it is a good purchase. I don’t think you will be disappointed, but the price is a bit up there in my view. If you want to shave a few bucks off your purchase, the EKKO is the obvious budget choice. The EKKO is quite a bit cheaper – for $75 you can get the G-10 EKKO against the $98 Sokoke. So there is a trade off in price, but I do think the action and steel on the Sokoke is better and the EKKO is a button lock, so your not looking at apples to apples.
