Ka-Bar TDI Cane, Aluminum Black, Ka9406
[Ka9406]

$339.99CDN $263.99CDN

I have a disability and use a cane to get around daily. Coupled with the fact that there isn't a lot of information on this cane available, I thought I would do a little review.

The cane weighs 2 lbs and is 39.5" in overall length out of the box. The cane's outside diameter is 1" and the wall thickness is a little over 1/8" at .130". Those thick walls are what give this cane its weight and strength.

Once I got those measurements done I set out to trim the cane so I could use it. Anybody who routinely uses a cane is familiar with the simple process of trimming it to the proper length. Those unfamiliar with how to measure and cut the cane to length can find that informational readily available on the net. It took me about 15 minutes to measure, make the hacksaw cut and clean up the end of the cane with a file. The cane is now a perfect fit for me and is a very effective support and walking cane.

With the cane fitting me right, I took a little walk around the yard. Its not hard to get used to the weight of this cane. It is lively enough for any daily use. This extra weight is not a big effort to manage. But when you lift the cane up, you can feel that there is a lot of mass there ready to be swung. As I stood there in the yard with the hook raised over my head I noticed two things. 1) The knurling is very aggressive and 2) there was a solid tree branch not too far from my hook. So, I hooked on and pulled myself up my cane. No problem. I wouldn't even try that with any of my other canes. The cane would break and I would likely get hurt. No problems with this beast though.

As canes go, this one is on the high end of the spectrum in terms of quality, price and strength. If you need a VERY sturdy cane, or something that could be an improvised weapon, this might be the thing for you. It certainly works for me.

There are also ample ways to customize this cane, including a roughly 3/4" diameter hollow space you can store things in if you want to.

Overall, its a buy!
