I bought this light hatchet because I wanted something light and compact for woodcraft projects. I also wanted to be able to throw it in my pack without griping about it’s weight.

I already had a Fiskars X22 hatchet.

The Mora axe is lighter than the fiskars and is pretty much equal at chopping smalls. The curved handle gives you the power that makes up for the reduced weight.

The fiskars is better at splitting though. It’s got a wider head.

The Mora axe is virtually indestructible though. It’s also easy to sharpen.

It comes with a conventional knife edge. I conceded mine. I also put a little rubber wrap on the end of the handle. I find it a bit small in my hand without it. I have large-ish hands. Small hands would likely fit this handle perfectly.

Overall a good buy at the price. It’s not for blazing trails of building 5 storey log cabins. But it’s a good camp helper and excellent at trimming down project pieces before you start carving.

It would also be pretty handy for hunting.
