SENCUT Crowley Flipper Button Lock Knife, D2 SW, Micarta Black, S21012-2
[SENS21012-2]

$69.99CDN

Sencut, of course, is the budget brand of WE Knives. The Crowely is advertised as a "reliable EDC." I hold it in very poor regard. So, let' unpack that. First, there are much better value options for you. If you wanted a Pyrite with micarta scales, you would pay about $81. For the Crowley with Micarta, $85. I have the Crowely in Micarta, and the Micarta is only OK. I would look at the G-10 versions for better value. Even the Vosteed Raccon is cheaper and better. You can also get that in an axis lock. My Crowley does not deploy nearly as well as the Pyrite or my other button locks. In fact it deploys poorly even after extensive efforts to tune it. I have improved it, but still it is not satisfying. It deploys reliably with the flipper, but using the thumb studs is difficult. I can open it reliably with the thumb stud, but it hurts my thumb a bit. I can't open it reliably with a finger flick. Of course I can also open it using the button, but the studs are not good. And all of this while it runs on bearing. In contrast, the Pyrite needed a tiny bit of tuning and is so smooth and reliably. What a contrast in deployment. I have seen reviews saying the knife deploys well. So this might just be my knife. So let's move on. Second, the fit and finish is not great. And again, my expectations are reasonable. I am comparing it to my Pyrite, my Vosteeds, the Civivi Baklash, the Steel Will Cutjack. These are all fair comparisons. This has noticeable issues. I think the liner is supposed to stand proud from the scales. They do but not consistently so. It is uneven over the length of the knife. So the liners come above the scales in some place and it looks like a design feature, but not in other places. The Micarta is OK, but nothing to write home about. Frankly, the best thing about the knife is the blade shape. So I would not get this knife if I were you. There are better options at a cheaper price for sure. HOe this helps you with your purchase decision.
