The Spydie Hard Use Icon So much has already been said about this classic folder. It’s an amazing hard use knife especially with the cruwear steel making it one of the sharpest & toughest in my collection. However it was a very stiff spring ball lock release which I hear is fairly typical -& it took at least a few weeks to break in (hint:keeping the blade half open & using it a number of times a day seemed to help ) Great micarta scales-quite light coloured to begin with & I preferred a deeper honey brown tone which was achieved by using a bit of “Wicked Wax” which helped darken the scales while also using it to coat & protect the blade (it’s also food safe too). Overall this along with my Spyderco Rock Jumper are my two heavier use knives/overall this Manix 2 is very ergonomic despite its flat like scales-I really like its ball lock design/similar to the crossbar lock but really tough. Yes -this has been a classic icon of a knife for good reason.
